A farewell party..

... to someone who's not leaving.

ironic eh?

the whole thing was like a drama. a thursday drama.

ok la i tell you the details.

our team leader, nurul had to leave the company. no she wasnt being laid off. nor was she resigned. but had something to do with the govt bond and need to go somewhere to work with the govt.

so everybody was sad. a farewell party was held. syahdu2 drama took place. (most-) people cried haha (me not included). nurul started crying since the very morning when she found something from us on her desk. cards passed around for everybody to sign. u know the deal with farewell. who likes goodbyes, right.

we were so sweet we made a little something for her.
these are few of the pics to be put in the album we bought for her.

a colleague from work drew this cute comic. kinda funny.
(btw Tom is our technical director who pronouns R as GH) :p

Lieve from Leuven even took a pic of her thumb for Nurul.

the self-appointed party manager haha sile lah gila kuasa
(the whiteboard reads: please lah, this is not goodbye?!)

the self-appointed secretary :p

yang berusaha (ramai lagi senanye)

the whole team was so sad that afternoon..

..only to find out in the evening that nurul's appeal to the government was successful and she didnt have to leave. haha.

so some ppl was like, "er can i take back the gift..?"

but everybody was glad she didnt leave.
and it was a funny drama indeed.

*flips page*
on a general note,
i wonder how to not be sad in goodbyes.
when we first meet people, we tend to interact with them. we decide the interaction flow. as in, treat them good, or less good. we decide if the person is important, or less important. then, a connection is established. we maintain this connection with regular good gestures, do favors, etc.
and if the important person leaves, the connection somehow breaks. because the person we have bond with is not there anymore.
and this breakage is what makes us sad. and sadness has its intensity too. its proportionate to the degree of importance of a person to us. for example losing a cat is less sad compared to losing a loved one.

so how now?
maybe we shud not create the bond in the first place.
maybe being ignorant is a good idea after all, in a way that we wouldnt be too affected in goodbyes.
come to a new place. dont interact. do work. only work. dont laugh. do work again. get paid. leave. simple, right?

but whats the fun in it. we're not robots.
then, we interact. we make connections. when "important" people leave, we chill. no big deal. life goes on. (oh cakap sungguh senang)
or islamically speaking, we redha. if there any lessons, we learn from it.
and thats better.
