these 2 weeks

if you read alak's latest post, i also went to his talks. in fact i was going with her la. (and one time with atiqah+alia).
and i, too, think the talks were, well, phenomenal. (at least for me)

alhamdulillah.

the talks were mainly about young muslims. about doing dakwah. about being good. being a muslim. being the muslim. you see, being just good, aint good enough. you have to be the example. be soleh, and then musleh. be an advisor. not a supervisor. there are lots of good people out there masyAllah, but some of them just decided to keep it to themselves. so now, enough of being self-centric. dont be too intoxicated of yourself. spread the words. a word pun jadiklah. (this strucks me the most)
this was the session at ISTAC, Jalan Duta.

things that we the young muslims should have.
1. mission statement. this is like something that defines you and your future. it must be clear, what things you want to achieve, and most importantly relate it to Allah. whoever wants to end good, must start good (at least with good niat). make ur mission statement something contributing to Islam. and make it realistic.
2. good friends. good companions. you must have someone who would tell you "you suck" when you truly suck. and "you're good", when you're truly good. the worst man is the Yes Man even if its not a yes, he just nods.
3. be in a group of good brothers and sisters (jemaah) to educate the community, to islamise the community. and have people to guide and support you along the way. if you dont invest in your community, you dont deserve a single right to complain about it.
4. try to see the khair in everything that shows up in life. the tests are meant to raise your level. you flunk a test, you flunk a test. so what? rebound.. make up for it. for one trial, it always comes with a package of two, hidayah and rahmah. messing up is a part of being young. the best of the sinner is those who repent. (which surah is this eh?)

++

among other things are,
1. there's this beautiful saying about knowledge. "knowledge is like the rain, and soil is its behavior. if the soil is corrupted, the rain would not be benefited."
2. always inpsect your intention.
3. before you audit people, audit yourself first.
4. we're all dai'es, whether you like it or not. so somehow we must play the role, in whatever way possible. dakwah aint result-oriented. Allah will reward based on your effort. (easier than exams?) (like, we constantly studying, but if the grade aint A, then we still get rewarded)
5. have a positive outlook in relationship with Allah.
6. it is forbidden to give up on Allah's rahmah.
7. one of the good way to reflect on yourself (muhasabah) is to look at your ipod (or any audio players) and see how many lagha (although sedap) songs compared to quran recitation, islamic songs or audio lectures. (dang!) (dush!) (bzzzt!)
8. when syaitan knocks us down, make wudu', pray 2 rakaat. the fallen shall rise. (lol)
9. islam doesnt ask us to be perfect. it asks us to try and to make effort to be perfect.

so thats about it. of course this is not all. i might have missed many important points up there. for those who had been taking notes feel free to patch the missing holes :)

p.s: special thanks to usna for forwarding the whole knowledge & arts thing. for suggestion, next time please bring in Baba Ali pulak ke.. :p

pp.s: oh em gee. esok hari isnin kan? crap. er, crab. as in, ketam.

ppp.s: thanks for reading up to this line! good night everyone. peace.
