10 ways to burn calories

so it has been at least a week since i started at cae.
and apparently im the only female engineer there. the rest of the teams are not. but theyre nice, and highly skilled, and like to share.

my job is kinda cool, i think. and i hope im gonna love it, despite the environment.
and what's cooler is, there's a part of my jobscope that requires me to learn to fly. as in, fly the aircraft. commercial ones, of course. not the highly unstable hard-to-trim fighter jets. er, the flight simulator, of course, not the real aircraft. haha.

first day working, i flew an airbus A330. ok "flew" aint really a correct word actually bcos i dont know anything about flying an aircraft, you know with all the millions of switches here and there inside the cockpit. all i did was listen to the order, and pitch up, pitch down, trim, banking, kiri kanan sikit, and then when the airplane was about to crash masa nak landing, the flight operator said, ok now let me take over. haha but at least dapatla rasa duduk kat pilot's seat. but its a little claustrophobic being in the cockpit, i think, with all the motion, loud sound of roaring engines, and we can even feel the speed of it flying. jadi kadang2 rasa laju kadang2 rasa lambat. kesimpulannye, agak nauseating skit la. but i guess that was when my stomach was empty, so makin bertambah la loye.

2nd day working, i "flew" a boeing 737 and boy it was way more challenging than airbus. flying a boeing is like driving a manual car, while for airbus its all fly-by-wire like driving an automatic car. ok but i dont know if the latest boeings dah guna fly-by-wire ke tidak.

then i have to read some manuals, some thick manuals. since my company is located inside the AirAsia Academy, there are pilots everywhere because our flight simulators are used by airasia pilots to train their junior pilots. and then there are also airasia supermodels around (read: the pretty soon-to-be cabin crews). and since airasia is like one of our customers, we have to like berbaik2 la with all the pilots and the crews and the staffs.

i will only know my real jobscope later when the real training starts some time in may. so, sementara tu buat ape? kena familiarize myself lah with all the electronics/hydraulics devices in the simulator. so i have to tag along with the rest of the team of engineers whenever they go troubleshooting, to see how they fix broken things. if they go on night shifts, i also go lah.

but of course things are not all sunshine and rainbows. there are some petty issues i need to work out, which requires strength and will. hm.
