breaking the great firewall of china

i think, i humbly think, china has been losing a great deal of the world by keeping most google products (docs, reader, google+ sometimes, everything google except google search and maps), youtube, blogger, twitter, and most of all, facebook from its people. poor chinese to have such a paranoid government. poor chinese. (cey ntah2 pasni blog ni kene block jugak sebab kutuk cine haha habis saye - yes, they're that paranoid)

but now, thanks to vpn i can get a quick access to all these resources. in an easy 30 minutes, i can conveniently dig up all the worldly news and current happenings out there. fb, reader, twitter, blogspots are undeniably very resourceful. poor chinese. i just knew gaddafi died, though. ok mmg tak baca news, tapi fb was my newspaper back then. and reader.

china aint too bad. but if this is the last time im going, i wouldnt be sad AT ALL. ok it is that bad. i keep crossing off the days in the calendar to be back home. the food is sick. the people barely speak AND read english. im homesick, and sick of work, and yesterday dominic asked me to extend my stay for another two days. 2 days are just too long. i cant do another 2 days esp with my crazy working schedule. days are lonely. especially without the easy access to world. i have to be on vpn to get those. and of course, with vpn you're not as 'free' jugak. not to mention very very slow.

SHOPS in china are ridiculously cheap. even KFC is cheap. ive only been to one shopping mall once, and it was cheap, like, are you sure you just wanna sell this at 50cent kinda cheap. of course its not 50cent. tapi murah sgt. but ive been so antisocial i didnt go out much, because my first experience going out the first time was bad. i told the cab driver to go back to my hotel, he didnt understand english, and i used my chinese translator app, he didnt get it either. so he ended up driving aimlessly and somehow we passed by our hotel on the way and i asked him to stop there. scary. of course after this i should be smarter by saving a picture of my hotel name in chinese in my fon. oh and the prepaid doesnt have 3g. and i dont wanna go into detail how i spent an hour to explain that i needed a sim card. and end up not buying any because the phone guy just didnt get it.

but i dont like how my other colleagues treat the chinese. yes their english are bad. and i think chinese dont feel the need to improve their english because they dont even need english in their daily lives. let say for tourism english is vital. but chinese economy is good enough they dont need tourism to boost it further. it has many other promising industries going on and i think tourism is just a little part of it. seeing my colleagues kutuk2 chinese just because of the language boundary is so uncomfortable. united states owed china trillions of dollar to cover their debts how could they be so arrogant? (ok harap2 malaysia takde hutang china jugak so im not guilty if i kutuk the chinese)

and now that im back writing, it's like a therapy. lega skit, somehow. i guess i just need to write. sebab sunyi kot. haha. i need physical people to share this with. of course writing is not physical. but writing could make me go into detail, in words, deleteable, editable. skyping with husband and family back home every night and every time, it helps, yes, a lot, yes, but they're also just as virtual as the internet. i can only see them on screen.

oh days, please pass faster. i have another 2 weeks to go. next weekend nisa is coming for holiday. yeay hopefully i will be more cheerful if not euphoric.

next up: what am i even doing in china?

cey siap ade topic2. ok no promises though.

p.s. i can actually live without fb! *slow clap*

p.p.s. oups no pictures. ive been locking up myself in the hotel room most days :D pathetic much?
